The typical option for online texting is using an SMS gateway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway). These might be like Clickatell.com, tm4b.com, etc. You basically buy text messages in bulk, connect your website to their gateway, and send texts whenever you need. Another option is to purchase an SMS server (like this one from Multitech: http://www.multitech.com/en_US/PRODUCTS/Families/MultiModemiSMS/). You purchase SIM cards from a cellular provider, plug them into the SMS server, then connect your website to the server to send out texts. Hope that gives a bit of guidance for you!

sir,

I want to create an online texting system (php&mysql) (Ozekie Message Center or others), any suggestions on how to start with this project, what software/hardware I need to use. Thanks.

It was simply a troubleshooting step. I wondered if refreshing the image would cause the animation to play. I think it didn't work when I just changed the src, so I tried using setTimeout() to see if giving it some time would help. And it did. :)

Hey Jeremiah, thanks for the comment! A good observation, but I will explain why I didn't feel that applied to our situation. While 10% may be the overall percentage, it was and is not ours. When I had to make the decision to restrict IE6 users, we only had 5% of visitors using IE6. Also, I made this decision because our site required a fixed navigation menu and some other more advanced things like that, which only the later browsers can handle. Our site is mainly functionality, not design, so I felt we _needed_ to use the latest technology. You are absolutely right though, that not everyone should restrict IE6. No one wants to piss off possible customers just because they are using an old browser! =)

As of 01/10 10.2% of the population was still using ie6 and if your are running a personal blog than it would be okay to force that user to upgrade to a better browser, but it is another situation altogether if you are running an ecommerce site. 10.2% of the population would be a huge market share to lose. Just my opinion.
